Eternal Sin

So I had a thought: why have a flat background when I could spend hours and hours drawing and cutting a pattern that could only subtly show up in the form of shadows? Good thing I love it and the effect.

This is another mock book cover I put together around the idea that the pomegranate, not the apple, is the universal symbol of sin and temptation, and put the ouroboros in the shape of a lemniscate to solidify the idea of its infinite nature.

A preview, of sorts.

The letter 'e', from the title of a book cover I'm working on right now. Not for pay yet!

Pokémon - Typhlosion

My brother has Ampharos and Dragonite in his part already, so technically this is his third member.

Seed Packets

Not sure why, but I forgot to post my seed packets, so here they are:

So I've posted this in a few pieces, but this is done now. I had to add the mathematical scribbles in the heart. It made me remember how much I enjoyed writing/drawing math notes, and how little of math I actually understood... As soon as we hit logarithms in Pre-Calc, I was down for the count.

Anyway, I'm really happy with the way this turned out. It's been a while since I've done something on the more conceptual side, and I love doing hand-cut type so this was a lot of fun. And finished!

Fine Gardening - the next issue

These are the latest three illustrations for Fine Gardening:

"Invincibelle Spirit" Hydrangea (I want one. Or... ten, maybe):

They also approved of the paper hydrangea piece I did (see the previous post), which I'm thrilled about!

In preparation for new work that I should be posting soon, I wanted to get a few things out of the way:

This is an example of what cut paper could look like for my Fine Gardening assignments - the "Invincibelle Spirit" Hydrangea. I just sent it to them, so I'm hoping that they're interested enough to let me work like this in the future.

And this is my main party of Pokémon put all together (thanks for the idea Melissa):

Coming Soon:

Regina Spektor EP with background completely finished.
My brother's Pokémon, as well as Snorlax and a shiny Luxray.
New Fine Gardening work (as soon as it's approved).

Pokémon - Dragonite

With Dragonite done, my main party is finished. Moving on to Snorlax and my brother's party now.

The Calculation EP

So this is the EP, front and back (the song list). I'm still going to be doing the mathematical scribbling, but it has me oddly nervous. As soon as it's done I'll possibly repost.

Pokémon - Sunflora

You all have to know that sunflowers are my favorite flower (although the tree peony is right up there). Anyway, it's only natural for me to have a Sunflora in my main party.

Dragonite coming soon.

Pokémon - Ampharos

Four out of six main party Pokémon done.

Corinne Bailey Rae, finished

There were a few things that really bothered me about the first version of Corinne Bailey Rae, so I added a hand-cut knitted sweater, and changed the background color. The pink was too much.

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

First off, this isn't finished and I'm planning on doing a whole package for it but I wanted to post what I've done so far. The only other things going on to this, the cover itself, are scribbles of math equations because, afterall, it is The Calculation EP.

Pokémon - Starmie

Haha I finally figured out how to put an 'accent aigu' on the 'e' in Pokémon (turns out I have no idea what that accent is called in English, only French).

From my party I only have Ampharos, Dragonite, and Sunflora to go.
