Those of you know that know me know that I love to bake. So I've decided to occasionally post some of the things I make, if they look good. This is an orange génoise with a meringue buttercream icing and a strawberry marmalade compote over the top, made in honor of my grandmother, who would have been 81 this week:
I also painted three blown eggs this year:
And I wanted to share some sneakpeeks of the work I'm doing for Shakespeare so far:
Plus I think the light coming through them is really cool looking.
My piece "Giraffe Hearts Bonsai" was selected to be sold as a part of the Power In Numbers for Gallery Nucleus! It's an incredible program where artists submit work and if it's chosen, a certain percentage of the proceeds go to a charitable organization! I'm donating my whole cut to the Red Cross to help out Japan!
If you're interested in an original piece of work check it out:
Something like this happens every time I listen to En Vogue:
And I know what you're thinking - aren't you busy with Romeo & Juliet, as well as a massive project you've undertaken for a gallery show? Aren't you a little too busy to be working on random illustrations of sassy black women? And to that I say, no. There's always time for sass. And the other project that I'm thinking of doing. So there.
So I've been invited to be a part of this incredible art show that features videogame art. It's an incredible honor. This is the first piece I've done:
Sword Kirby! I hope to have many more pieces, but may not show them until after the show! I'll also be a little slow posting anything for a while, as I just got the illustration list for the Shakespeare books and it's pretty extensive. Wish me luck!
