I made this as a big thank you (big in scope, not in size - 4"x6") to the man who originally showed my work to the publishing company that's hired me to do the Shakespeare books!

Today I got my copies of Elmore Magazine (a rock magazine) in the mail. Thank you Erik!
The spot illustration that I did was kind of out of my usual realm of thought, but was so much more interesting of a challenge because of it! In the end, I settle on a treble clef around a cross:
I also asked to do the headline which was thrilling:
By the way, it's a peony, not a rose. Just sayin.

I wanted to switch things up a bit and do something simple. It often starts that way and becomes gradually more complicated. But I've been foolin around with block prints for a little while and wanted to try my hand at characters, as well as printing as a form of illustration. So this is a small series of wild animals interacting with manmade objects. I like how they turned out:
Giraffe (now I realize that that's a small tree, but a bonsai is technically a manmade object, and it's my bonsai, Arktos. Yes, he has a name):
And I am currently in negotiations to do 32 illustrations total for two different books in a series of Barnes and Noble Classics!!! Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth!!!
